Early learning kit for 3-6 year olds, 1999

The early years are a period of rapid development. To help young children learn, in 1999 Sutradhar designed a kit of 11 play materials to promote all-round early childhood development. The materials in the kit are sturdy and multipurpose, and come in a bag with a  teacher’s manual. The kit was designed for government-run anganwadis and balwadis who have limited budgets. It is a useful standardised kit for those working with a large number of pre-school centres.

The Early learning kit (ELK) is based on guidelines developed by NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training). It has been endorsed by NIPCCD (National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development), the premier training institute for ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services) functionaries. The kit was field tested by Sutradhar with a 1000 anganwadis in 1999, and has been used by several NGOs since.
