Santhal painting

The kit provides children an introduction to Santhal painting as practiced by the Jadu Patua or magic painters of the Santhal tribe of Bengal and Orissa. The paintings are based on nature and community life and the artists use handmade paper and organic dyes. With the material provided here, a child can paint his own ‘magic’ picture.

The box contains: 6 poster colours, 2 brushes, 2 sachets of natural material with instructions on how to make natural colour, 10 colour cards and a leaflet that provides a little background on Santhal art. For home use.
